Up for sale is a fascinating piece of vintage medical equipment - a mechanical 11-key counter, manufactured in 1972 and once used in Soviet laboratories for hematology diagnostics. This precision device was designed to count different types of blood cells (the leukocyte formula) during microscopic examination in hospitals, clinics, and research institutes. The counter measures approximately 10.6" x 4.3" x 3.3 (27 x 11 x 8.5 cm) and is built on a sturdy gray metal base with a black rectangular plastic housing, slanted at the top for ease of use. It features 11 levers with keys, each connected to a numbered drum.

Pressing a key registers the count, which appears in the small display windows above, while a totalizer on the right side records the overall sum. A reset handle allows the operator to clear all results at once. Eight of the keys are labeled for specific white blood cells - myelocytes, juvenile forms, band and segmented neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, basophils, and lymphocytes. The remaining three keys, marked "1, " "2, " and "3, " served as reserves for recording pathological elements.

Counters like this played a crucial role in generating the leukocyte formula (or leukogram), a vital diagnostic tool for detecting inflammation, allergies, blood disorders, and more. Known for their reliability and accuracy, these devices were standard in Soviet medical practice for decades.

This particular piece remains in very good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of age and use. It is not only a functional laboratory instrument but also a tangible piece of medical and Soviet history. Perfect for collectors of scientific instruments, vintage medical equipment, or Soviet-era memorabilia.
