Red Cross Sipping Cup, Ceramic Or Porcelain Medical Sipping Cup RARE WW1

Red Cross Sipping Cup, Ceramic Or Porcelain Mefical Sipping Cup RARE WW1. Red Cross Sipping Cup, Ceramic Medical Cup RARE. I have done some research on the internet and it looks like it was made for Military use in the WW1 and other times in the hospitals etc. And on some sites they found their way to Canadian or similar ones were made there. Hospital Patient Feeding Cup or Invalid Cup used Ashore in Hospitals and on Hospital Ships for injured Soldiers and Sailors who were bed invalids and couldn't sit up to feed.

Beautifully Designed and Primarilly Made in England and Exported to Friend and Foe Alike. This Feeding Cup has the Traditional Red Cross. Most of these Patient Feeding Cups were made during WWI by the British Porcelain and Ceramic Industry due to the horrendous number of casualties that were incurred by all sides. The precise date for this feeding cup, where it was used, and by whom, are unknown.

It serves as a tangible reminder of the societys aid to sick and wounded military personnel and civilians during the global conflicts of the first half of the twentieth century. Plain white china feeding cup, provided with a handle and long pouring spout at right angles to each other. There is a scalloped half-cover over the cup to prevent spillage, with a Red Cross transfer located on the cover, which is also simply decorated with a narrow gold border. The mouth of the spout is similarly decorated. The gold gilt has faded in places.

The Red Cross image has some scratches. The ceramic/porcelain has some (2 of which I can see) hairline fractures. 12.7cm length from spout to edge. 11.2cm length from handle to edge.
