Antique Cooper Drenching Nug Medicine Dozing Tool Sheep Farmer Vet's Equipment
This is a vintage - antique Cooper branded Drenching Gun canister and nozzle. This is some sort of tool that farmers use, for their sheep, goats, calves even. So if you are good at anagrams.. Its called a COOPER DRENCHING NUG on the oval canister.
This has nothing to do with slaughtering animals, there would be a solution of medicine in the canister worn on a strap on your back and a rubber hose between the two. You then go up the sheep race or in a pen and hold your ewe etc. By the head and gently put the nozzle of the hand held part of NUG into the mouth and squeeze the handle giving a certain amount of dose to the animal. The amount administered can be altered on the handle part. This is a much older version of what they use today.
Similar idea but with a plastic bottle on your back, the dozing hand part very similar. This will suit someone that likes to go to vintage steam rallies or agricultural shows and the tent with all the bygone items in it.
In fact you could still use it by the look of it. Good old Made in England quality. In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear.
No damage to the metalware from what I can see. Please see pictures for more details and visual confirmation of condition.
The canister part measures approx. 7 and 1/2 inches x 7 inches x 4 and 1/2 inches.
16 inches long in total. Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter. In the title or description it means.
