Olympus BHS/M model trinocular polarizing microscope. This is a working instrument with rebuilt focus system and nice and powefull 100-watt halogen lamphouse. Ower supply in base works well.Has pol centering nosepiece, pol intermediate piece has been serviced and fully operational and equipped with a Bertrand optic that focuses easily. Has 6mm x 20mm Lambda / 4 slider.
Microscope equipped with NA 0.85 long working distance condenser and large rotating base polarizer of unknown make possibly for a Wild macroscope base? , but works very well for extinction and easy to grasp. Objectives are Olympus Dplan PO 4x and Dplan 10x, which although it is not marked PO works as well with color and saturation as the 4x. The trinocular head has WHK10x eyepieces. The large circular rotating pol stage is a ball bearing unit with x-y that has been adapted to the Olympus carrier. This is the high end of the BH-2 series microscope stands. It has removable nosepiece as well as 160mm fixed optical tube length objectives of the 45mm length. The condensers can be changed out as well as the heads and stages. All BHS stands have the 12 volt 100-watt base lamp house that takes inexpensive halogen bulbs. This stand is a BHS-M which means it can also be fitted with the incident illuminator and be powered by the base supply of 12-volts by pushing in a button to select either top or bottom illumination. I do not have the upper illuminator for this microscope. It comes as shown, nothing else is included.
The stage is solid and mounted to the lower portion of the original Olympus stage carrier. The condenser carrier is part of, and attached to, the stage carrier and has it own rack and pinion for raising and lowering the condenser.. The LWD condenser is rare and has a long tube extension that goes down to the lamp exit port on the base.In the photo's it is shown at its lowest position. This is a working microscope, although some pieces are not factory, it functions as intended. The ball bearing stage fitted is superior to the inferior Olympus factory friction & grease lubrication unit in my opinion. This POL stage centers and the Olympus one does not! That is kinda a big deal for the optical identification of minerals and optical crystallography.
